The John Keells Foundation (JKF) team visited its villages in Morawewa and Mullaitivu on the 16th, 17th and 18th of October 2016 under its Village Adoption Programme, aimed at empowering communities in a sustainable and entrepreneurial manner. In Morawewa, our team visited the T/N/ Track 6 Vidyalaya whom JKF has previously supported with Grade 05 Scholarship seminers, met with the irrigation department and agrarian development authority towards expediting the construction of a tank in Morawewa and observed the opening of two reverse osmosis plants sponsored by JKF with the support of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board(NWSDB) as a way of reducing the prevalence of Chronic Kidney Disease. In Mullaitivu, JKF visited the MU/ Iranaippalai R.C.M.V School to commemorate the opening of the new school building and also visited the Puthukudiyiruppu (PTK) Police Station to view the newly developed Women and Children’s Desk, an initiative funded by John Keells Foundation in collaboration with Asia Foundation towards making the response to violence against women and children more sensitive and effective whilst also creating a more suitable space for women and children.
