Cinnamon Lakeside recently held an environment themed art competition at T. B. Jayah Maha Vidyalaya in Colombo 2. The art competition was held in two age categories – Grades 1-5 and Grades 6-11 under the theme ‘Protecting the environment’.
As the panel of judges from Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo commented, “The submissions for the art competition showed a beautiful use of colour and almost all of them had captured the theme to some extent. The winners were outstanding, though, in their use of form, shadow, shading and attention to the little details that made the world of a difference.”
The selection of the winners was followed by a simple prize-giving ceremony at the school. Asiri Sirimanne giving away one of the prizes
This art competition is yet another step in a long-standing partnership between the school and the hotel. As part of its CSR efforts, Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo has been actively involved in the Neighbourhood Schools Development Project of John Keells Foundation (JKF) and has been supporting the development and maintenance of infrastructure and facilities of three disadvantaged Government schools in Colombo 2 since 2005 – namely, T. B. Jayah Maha Vidyalaya, Al Iqbal Muslim Balika Vidyalaya and Siri Sariputta Maha Vidyalaya. The aim of this initiative is to create an environment more conducive for learning.
