This strategic CSR initiative has facilitated John Keells to outsource some of its accounting functions whilst taking city job opportunities to village youth by offering training and employment in this growing industry.
Objective:
Create sustainable employment opportunities for talented rural youth, enabling them to work from the familiar environment of their own village
Target Group:
The John Keells Foundation in collaboration with Foundation for Advancing Rural Opportunity (FARO) set up Sri Lanka’s first rural BPO (Business process Outsourcing) operation in the agricultural village of Mahavilachchiya (Anuradhapura District) in the North Central Province in 2007. Subsequently JKF expanded the project to encompass rural youth in the areas of, Seenigama (Galle District) in 2010 and Jaffna in 2013.
