Under project WAVE John Keells Foundation piloted a series of Programmes to train the employees of John Keells group to become trainers who conduct gender and child protection awareness programmes which increases the pool of resources.

The 2-day Child Protection training of trainers programme was conducted by Grassrooted Trust at Hikka Tranz and Habarana Lodge for a total of 54 resort staff while the 5-day Gender training of trainers programme was conducted by The Asia Foundation, in Colombo for 14 employees representing various sectors.

Following the completion of the programme, the volunteer trainers from Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon conducted 3 sessions on Child Protection in a Dhamma School in Hikkaduwa. The sessions benefited 180 children aged between 6 to 16.
