John Keells Foundation hosted its annual John Keells Volunteer Recognition Day on 6th July 2023 at Earls Court, Cinnamon Lakeside. The event which felicitates staff who excelled in their commitment to volunteerism in the preceding financial year was graced by Krishan Balendra, the Chairperson of John Keells Group as Chief Guest, members of the Group Executive Committee, Group Operational Committee and Group staff.

In 2022/23 over 600 Group staff have dedicated their time to various causes from environmental initiatives to Crisis Response, Education, Health, Arts & Culture and Livelihood Development programmes.

This year, special awards for volunteerism in the Group’s Crisis Response Initiative were awarded to the respective project teams of Ceylon Cold Stores PLC, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, JayKay Marketing Services PLC and John Keells Properties for their contribution and dedication towards successfully executing programmes in the respective business locations.

The year’s CSR Highlights was presented by Head of CSR, Carmeline Jayasuriya while a special segment was organised to showcase the Higher Education Scholarship Scheme which has supported over 260 deserving beneficiaries in the Group’s business and CSR locations to pursue their A’Level and University education.
